A dark world...

“My earnest prayer is that you will have the courage required to refrain from judging others, the courage to be chaste and virtuous, and the courage to stand firm for truth and righteousness.”
This address by President Monson called “May You Have Courage” from April 2009 has so much good counsel in it. Yes the world appears dark sometimes. Yes, things can be loud and confusing. No it isn’t easy to discern or keep track of what’s right and wrong all the time. Society flips many morals around so good seems evil and evil good. We knew this would happen. It’s been prophesied that the powers of Satan will overtake many. He isn’t a figment of our imagination. He is REAL. He wants our souls and longs to build an army of miserable enslaved people who think they’re fighting for the right. He’s pretty slick and knows how to be manipulative and persuasive, appealing to our carnal nature of pleasure and satisfaction. We are blessed to live in a time where we have the light of the gospel. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been troubled by the world and, after turning to the Lord, I am immediately calmed because I am reminded of His power, mercy, and strength that we have access to. The eternal matters before us far outweigh the temporal ones. We endure the dark and hold to the light, knowing who is really in control of it all and who will eventually triumph in this battle. Who’s side are you on? Will you cling to the light that can guide you through troubled times? Hold on. Just hold on. We’ve got this and we aren’t in this alone. Avoid judging others who may be stuck in the dark. It’s not an easy road to navigate and it won’t be getting any easier any time soon. Reach out with love and let’s reach heaven together.
